My name is Martin Brown-Gaines, and I am a 19-year old Man of Morehouse, Kinesiology major, Spanish minor, originally from Los Angeles, California. I was born on July 19, 1995 and raised in Inglewood, California. In my high school years, I participated in numerous activities and organizations around my community and in my school such as AVID, College Summit, Boy Scouts of America, my high school JV and Varsity football and track & field teams, and much more. I graduated from Inglewood High School with honors such as being recognized as the best in my class in the math subject, the male student with the most community service hours, and finishing with an average 3.4 grade point average. I was accepted into many great institutions such as Tuskegee University and Northern Arizona University; however, I made the greatest decision of my life in picking Morehouse College for my higher education studies. The reason I have picked Morehouse over the other schools is because I have always wanted to attend an HBCU and I wanted to be around other men who are the same color as me and probably come from a similar background as me who have an abundant amount of goals and are willing to work hard to achieve them. During New Student Orientation, I realized that Morehouse College is the right school for me because of the brotherhood that was instilled into all of us and it was all-around one of the greatest experiences of my life. In the future, I plan to graduate from Morehouse with honors and two degrees in Business Administration and Kinesiology and go onto graduate school and earn two master's and doctorate degrees and start a franchise of fitness gyms in the inner cities of the United States.
